Hair is one of those things that the women are extremely concerned about, and hair fall can out them in a deep worry if the condition seems to have no practical solution.

But, fortunately, hair transplant comes as a rescue for those who are fearing about losing their hair.

Female Hair transplant procedure is gradually getting popular in Turkey, and women out there are showing a huge interest in undertaking this treatment, and why not? After all, the amazing results it offers are simply unmatched and allow a woman to get a younger look that she desires.

Types of Female Hair Loss

Hair loss is not an issue which is only limited to men, women also suffer from hair loss at any age and for a variety of reasons. The way women deal with hair loss is different than their men counterparts. Once they realize more hair strands are falling they start to panic and it immediately impacts their psychology. After all we can’t blame them for hair is one of their beauty weapons that they brag off with. You might think hair loss has only one type known as Androgenetic Alopecia; however, hair loss has different types and we summarized them in the following list:

Androgenetic Alopecia

A significant number of women suffer from Androgenetic Alopecia, which is a genetic pattern hair loss that takes a different form than it is in men. In this case of female hair loss, baldness is diffused and hair is thinning all over the entire scalp. This type can be caused by some factors such as hormonal imbalance, menopause and aging, consuming birth control pills and pregnancy.

Telogen Effluvium

In this type of hair loss, hair is affected by a traumatic or stressful event such as serious surgical intervention, malnutrition and sudden severe weight loss, childbirth and emotional shock. After these events take place hair starts to enter the Telogen Effluvium resting phase and sheds. It is important to note that this is a temporary phenomenon and ends when the traumatic event is rectified.

Alopecia Areata

This condition appears when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks and targets the hair follicles which results is patches on the scalp. It can also target different body parts not only the scalp.

Trichotillomania (Excessive hair pulling disorder)

During stressful days such as exams people feel constrained to pluck out and pull their hair and this is a serious disorder that needs an immediate intervention if it last for many years. Excessive pulling of hair can cause baldness but once it is avoided hair has the potential to grow back but that might take some time.

Traction Alopecia

Is a condition that causes hair to gradually fall. It is caused by people’s hair styling habits that include tight pony tails, cornrows, hair extensions and tight braids. This is a serious form of hair loss and it can be reversed and hair can grow back again, but with people who have been practicing these hair styles over an extended period of time it might be hair to reverse as the hair follicles get damaged.

Female Hair Transplant

It is commonly agreed that an ideal treatment for hair loss is to undergo a hair transplant surgery. In many cases hair transplant can be a perfect solution to permanently treat female hair loss. Lately, female hair transplant in Turkey has attained and grabbed the interest of an increasing number of women from all over the world. With the promising outcome that women have witnessed from the surgery, many women are getting encouraged to take the step and undergo a hair transplant since it is a very simple, minimally invasive and out-patient procedure which doesn’t require long stays in the destination country.

Women can consider a hair transplantation if they aim to lower their receding hairline or to treat a female pattern baldness and cover bald patches in the scalp. For any reason, the procedure consists of removing individual hair follicles from the donor area and implanting them in the required area to be transplanted.

Am I a Good Candidate For Hair Transplant?

In the case of female hair transplant, it is very critical to address the cause of hair loss and analyse the hair structure and form of baldness. Hair loss in women is very distinct that in men, where women suffer from a diffused hair loss dispersed all over the entire scalp which might limit their hair transplant choices since the donor area might be affected and is prone to hair loss as well.

Thus it is very wise to visit and consult with a hair specialist to determine the availability of strong and healthy hair follicles that can serve as donor hair for the restoration procedure.

Female Hair loss Alternative Treatments

Before rushing into hair transplantation take your time to understand your hair loss pattern and accordingly start looking for alternatives to treat your hair loss. If for any reasons you couldn’t reap satisfying outcomes from these alternatives then this could be the right time to consider hair transplantation. In the following lines we will provide you with a list of hair loss treatments that you can try after consulting with a doctor.

Minoxidil

A topical hair loss medication which is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is an over counter drug which can be easily reached and found in supermarkets and pharmacies. A 2% solution was found to be suitable for women to use. Women who used the medication for 2 months and more (according to each condition) have reported significant and notable hair growth with high density. However, whoever uses Minoxidil should understand the importance of using it regularly in order to maintain the results acquired. Or else, the hair will start to fall again when stopped.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

The secret lies in your blood. As we know blood consists of two components, red blood cells and plasma. The plasma contains white blood cells and platelets. These two are very rich in growth factors.

The idea of PRP is to withdraw blood from the patient and place it in a tube which is put in a centrifuge that spins in order to help separate the plasma from the red blood cells. After that, the extracted plasma which is rich in platelets is then injected into the patient’s scalp.

For optimal results sessions should be attended regularly once every 3 weeks or as your doctor determines according to your case.

Laser Therapy

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) emits a light of wavelengths that range between 630 up to 670 nanometres that penetrates to the hair follicles. It helps stimulate hair growth by taking the hair follicles from the shedding phase to the growing phase knows as (Anagen). It also increases the blood circulations which in return helps to supply the hair follicles with oxygen and nutrients.

Pre and Post – Operation Precautions

If you want to get the best out of your transplantation there are few measures to consider before and after the hair transplantation surgery.

Pre-Hair Transplantation Tips

  1. Refrain from using Aspirin or any blood thinning agents a week before your operation.
  2. Cut any consumption of vitamins or proteins at least 2 weeks before the operation.
  3. Abstain from using any hair growth products such as (Minoxidil) two weeks prior to the operation.
  4. It is very critical to avoid smoking (cigarettes, e-cigarettes, hookah and e-hookah) from at least 2 weeks before the surgery. Learn more about effects of smoking on hair transplantation.

Post-Hair Transplantation Tips

  • You should take care of the transplanted area during the first 10-14 days. Remember not to scratch, rub or pull the hair in that area. This doesn’t mean however that you can’t take a shower the next day post to the procedure, but pay attention to wash your scalp gently as the follicles still in the settling phase and need more care to be dealt with.
  • In case of some minor swellings – which is natural – at the front area of the scalp, try to sleep in a straight position with head up until the swellings disappear.
  • You must quit smoking especially during the first three weeks as smoking blocks the blood from passing to the transplanted areas.
  • Avoid heavy exercising and workouts during the first two to three weeks.
  • Avoid direct sunlight exposure as possible especially in the first 4-6 weeks after the procedure by wearing a cap or any other means.
  • Do not use dyes or any other materials during the first 4-6weeks.
  • Remember that healthy diet means healthy hair. To get that healthy hair, you should follow a balanced diet that contains the suitable amounts of fresh vegetables and fruits in order to gain the necessary amounts of minerals and vitamins. You should also remember to drink enough amounts of water and eat foods rich in protein to strengthen your transplanted hair.
  • Avoid stress by sleeping well and practicing light anti-depression exercises like yoga.
